Hey! If you've checked out my about page recently, you may have noticed that things have changed a bit. I've had some new ideas about my website, because I realized if I'm going to keep blogging, it has to be fun and align with my own goals. From now on SWB will be more of a journal and less of a researched informational site - I'm not aspiring to be a writer or a health coach. What I do want to do is build community around fitness, stay healthy, travel, and learn new skills (especially gymnastics, but lots of other stuff too!). Hopefully SWB will help me stay accountable and focused on my goals, and inspire YOU in your own journey.
You can expect shorter updates from me documenting my progress or just my thoughts. I'm sure I'll also keep writing about mental health, and writing book reviews because those are fun. But if you're looking for the most accurate, up-to-date health advice, I suggest you look elsewhere. I'm just writing about my story because I enjoy it and it feels important to share.
My current goal: I'm training for my first 5k on October 8th! 5k doesn't sound that difficult, but I am a terrible runner, and I expect I'll be walking about half the way. I ran/walked about one mile this morning. What am I getting myself into? I thought, I have to run three times this distance!!! But then I came over a hill and the valley in the distance was full of mist, and the sun was just coming up. I think I could get out of bed for the same view tomorrow.
I love having something concrete to train for, to give my workouts a sense of purpose. Just a bit frustrating that there aren't events I can train for in gymnastics, so I guess when my race is done I'll just have to create them myself!
